Who was the wife of James Ribbons
« on: Sunday 31 March 19 20:46 BST (UK) »
James Ribbons (Various spellings of Ribbons) was a grocer in New Buckenham. I believe he was born in 1850 but some census info gives birth place as Tibenham and others as New Buckenham. I have found a newspaper article about his wife's death and funeral in Diss in 1924. I have been unable to find a marriage record, probably because he was a Primitive Methodist. His wife had the first names Hannah Pamment  (Ribbons), but I cannot find her birth record. The article gives her age at death as 67. One family tree suggests her name as Hannah Francis, but the birth date is 2 years out, however a Mr L Francis is mentioned. The article also states that her only son was Jabez Ribbons and her grandchildren are named as Horace Lewis, Reggie and Esther. Any confirmation of the facts and a wedding date and place would be most helpful.

Jabez's birth record show his mother's maiden name was Francis.

Possible 1871 for the Francis family -

Robert Francis   52
Anne Francis   55
Lazarus Francis   19
Amos Francis   18
Hannah Francis   16

Perhaps the Mr L Francis mentioned in the newspaper article on Hannah's death could be her brother Lazarus.

The newspaper article records Mr L Francis of Lingwood (brother). Lazarus Francis was listed on the Norfolk Register of Electors as living in Lingwood.
