Mystery Burial St David's October 1906
« on: Tuesday 02 April 19 16:19 BST (UK) »
Why can I not find a death record for a 77 year old called Elizabeth Richards who was buried in St Davids in Oct 20th 1906?

The church burial record shows that she was buried but I can't find her death record on BMD at all.

I do have a record for an Eliza Richards who died 2 days previously but she was 40 years of age.  Could it really be the same person?

Is this her in 1901?

John Richards    77 ag labourer b Llanfair Nantfwyer,
Elizabeth Richards    69 b Eglwyswrw

Or was she the unmarried Elizabeth Richards b 1833 Llanfyrnach (if so - she is still alive on next census)

There is no BMD record of a 77 year dying in 1906 to match the age of the burial which is why I am confused.

My Eliza Richards died on 18 Oct 1906 and her brother John reports it.  He is only 31.

Two days later the vicar buries someone of the same name but the wrong age is recorded?

Yes.  It should be 1906.  My fat fingers...… I have changed the title.

if her brother John is 31 and she is 77 something doesn’t seem right

Exactly so unless I am missing a death record the age on the burial record cannot be right as the death certificate for 18 Oct 06 doe snot match up.

When you say her brother reports it, do you mean you have the death cert?

And your Elizabeth is the one posted by Carol, with husband John? In which case the burial is not “yours”?

Perhaps you need to give us a bit more information about “your” Elizabeth.
