At his marriage in 1871, Thomas PARTINGTON said he was born in Tas (Tasmania).
Eliza just stated England. 1871/reg 1222

I think Thomas may have made some poor choices after the death of Eliza.

This assault on a young girl landed him in gaol, 18 months in 1890/91

Long Lost Relatives Column

Eliza PARTINGTON (nee Bradbury) - her nephew John was seeking her.

Fabulous! Keep them coming!

"Her nephew John" would have been my gt-grandfather  :)

I can think of two immediate possible reasons for this notice.

Firstly John's father, the brother of Eliza had died or was ill.

Or

John had decided to visit Australia and see her.

Have you explored either of these posibilities?

Long time between contacts '82 to '96

Yes, I wondered if there was any significance to the timing here, but I can't immediately see any family deaths around then, and as far as I know, no-one else in the family went to Australia. Perhaps they would have if they'd been able to make contact!
