Were Marriage Certificates as such issued in Pennsylvania around 1850?If so what detail would they show?

When issued marriage certificates are normally a county within the state task. Birth and death certificates normally a state function. I would say that ancestry.com might be your best chance of finding what you are looking for.

I doubt if they are there. BMDs weren't required in most states until later. I don't know the exact date for Pennsylvania. But you might find a marriage announcement in a newspaper. Of course finding a 1850 newspaper will be a bit of a challenge as well.
