Death Of A Former Durban United Footballer
« on: Wednesday 03 April 19 14:30 BST (UK) »
Hi, I hope SKS can look in the recent press for the death of Kit Napier, a former Durban United player.

It looks like Kip passed away at home in SA either on 31st March or 1st April,  I would like to know which date and where exactly.

The information is to be used by Preston North End club historian to keep his files upto date

Thank you

Simon

Thanks Sandra, I've seen the UK press reports.  I was hoping someone in SA would have local reports, thanks once again

Hi, I asked my brother who said Kit's son, Chris, played for their first team, Glenwood Old Boys. He said there is an organisation, expro, that gives talks etc on football old (& new, amongst other functions), that may be able to help you with your enquiries; as they deal with ex professional footballers in South Africa.

I have traced them on the internet. My Google search "ex pro football Durban" turned up:
NEW WEBSITE FOR EXPRO
 Enzo Coppola's blog

" EXPRO, established by ex-professional footballers...

The driving force behind the website initiative is Julian Turner, and a visit to www.expro.co.za"

Failing that my brother can perhaps help suggest people who knew Kit here in Durban & could help you further with his career/history.

Yours: MidgeZA

Not related to your actual search but I would be grateful for a link to the Preston North End club historian which I tried to find some time ago and gave up.  I am told that one of my husband's Nevitt relatives played for the club some considerable length of time ago and was trying to verify.

Agreed, wiki article says 31 Mar 2019. I was unable to find anything on iol-independent on line, which encompasses the local Durban newspapers, The Mercury & The Daily News; as it requires a subscription & I don't buy the print version anymore.

Hi Pheno

If you message me with the name of the gentleman,  I am able to look up any player that has made first team appearances from 1888 onwards.

Kind regards

Simon
