My husband lived a few doors down from Adah's shop, also Hitchens Row, these were houses, now replaced by modern flats.
He knew Adah, it was Jessie's son who lived in the house down Broomhill.
Bridgewater House, the shop was in the front room, you went through the gate and up steps.
Bless her, her knickname was Halfpenny Adah, as she put a halfpenny on everything she sold.
