Remarks in school register

Does anyone know what the M that some children have had and some have not means in the remarks column in the image attached.  I first thought Matriculation, but most are far too young.

My first thought was measles.  But looking at it again, all those children have left the school so whether or not they had had measles would be irrelevant.  So am now trying to think what would be an 'M' which would be relevant when a child was leaving....  I don't know.  Money perhaps?  Maybe the school had a poor fund.

Looking again I see that one child who left went to St Johns Brixton.  I think this might be the school:

What is the date of the register? 1968 marked the introduction of the first measles containing vaccine into the UK childhood immunisation programme.

Interesting report here by the Medical Officer of Health for Lambeth in 1910 (see page 60 for Measles)

That’s what I like about Roots chat, there is always something new coming along.  I can think of several other reasons for me to look at those reports of the Medical officer of health. I had previously just relied on the newspaper mentions.

So yes, I think it must be M for measles

It was the 1909 admissions register, but obviously has later dates in it relating to the pupils leaving.

Thank you all.

Odd though as measles was a non notifiable disease, so why report it in school records? Are the same remarks on previous or later pages?  If you look at the dates of birth and the dates of last attendance at that school, the children were about 7 years old.
