Who Leased These Properties to Whom?

In this description of a document, from the ancestordocs website, who leased to whom? Richard Thompson to the Horns or vice versa.

" Sunderland – 1810 – Lease for a year (being first part of lease & release for conveyance of property possibly as security for mortgage) between Richard Thompson (Sunderland near the Sea), and Thomas Horn the elder & Thomas Horn the younger (both Bishopwearmouth) of a half interest in a number of properties and land in Arras Lane. Parchment sheet  Signed / sealed Richard Thompson, witnessed on reverse by Nick Laws & Robt. Stafford."

Normally the lessor is listed first and the lessee second.  So Thompson is the landlord and the Horns are the tenants.

However, the description also says that this is the first part of a lease and release.

You should read this carefully to understand what that signifies about the transaction:

according to the ancestordocs website the  Occupiers include Mary Thompson, Elizabeth Sandle, Elizabeth Petty, Richard Shipley & Daniel Makemirth....... names adjoining property occupiers including George Thompson the younger.
