England & Wales, Civil Registration Death Index
« on: Monday 08 April 19 11:23 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm trying to find some burial records, but I'm struggling with some.  I could go through endless parish records on the hope of hitting the right one, but I also wondered if I could narrow it down from the Civil Registration Death Index.

For example, the main person I am looking for at the moment, is registered as having died in Caistor District,  would the Volume and Page number on the index give me a more precise location?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

 David

Are you able to narrow it down by age

ADDED Does this relate to your post for Isaac Robinson as the burial has been found

The death certificate only states where the person died but should show their home address, which might be where they died.

Using their home address you can look for the nearest cemetery/churchyard to see if that is where they were buried.  For a modern death you will also need to consider cremation records.

It does and thanks for the answer, I've replied to that thread.

I'm quite new to this so all the hints would be helpful, I did think the index would be more help without me having to buy certificates (that's not an option).

If you use the GRO’s own index that will give you age at death which may help.
