Shaun have you thought of looking for a report of the accident in newspapers?

Wow,

thankyou so much guys this has really cleared thing up for me. Really appreciate your help. Its ok, I am sure that she died at home, I know the family were living at Hammerton Road at the time, Although I would have though that if she was run over then she would have died at Hospital, but maybe not.

I would love to try and do that Carol, but have now idea how I would go about it. do you have any tips of where I could start?

My family alway heard rumours that Sarah Bundock was run over, but nobody knew how true it was. Its interesting to find out it was true, although sad at the same time.

thanks

Shaun

Sorry Shaun...I tried every combination of names but came up empty  ::)
I did wonder if it could have been a War related accident given the date.

Thankyou very much for trying Carol,

Interesting point about the date.

I will go back and speak to my family and find out who had heard about her getting run over, and do a bit more digging.

thanks again.

Yes that's a good point Macwil, usually where there is an inquest it is reported in the newspapers. Also, if you look for a matching family tree for her on Ancestry, there may be some info attached.

I've had two inquests reported in the local press and the local Archives have them on microfilm. 1896 in Wigan and 1921 in Leigh, Lancashire and because I had dates for Death and Inquest they were relatively easy to find. I recommend searching for a fortnight after each date, it will depend on newspapers' publication date. Were they daily, weekly, twice-weekly etc.
In the 1921 case, the accident happened on 20th/21st, Inquest on 22nd and reports appeared on 29th. they were weekly papers.
