Can anyone make out the middle two lines concerning John son of Mary Holdroyd and whatever it says next.

I sifted through several pages of that book of baptisms, and the normal format was child's first name, Father's full name, and abode.
In the case of unmarried mothers, it was child's first name, mothers name, father's name (if known), abode.

In the case of the one you are interested in, I don't know whether it as actually an abode, or he "suspects" that that was the father??  Father is George something... better eyes than mine might work it out.

I never saw any "t" crossed.

Here's another clip to show the two words following the mother's name, as I think it is a latin term (probably something to do with out of wedlock), and it's easier to read... the two words at the end of Jonathon, son of Mary Shaw, Crowbanke.

The words are pat[e]r ignotus, which means 'father unknown'

The best strategy would be to scan through a few nearby pages of the register looking for names of a similar form.

Thinking that one if I'm lucky I might find a marriage between a Mary and this George chap.
Thanks again Lee
