Help with WW1 Index Card Arthur Gardiner

Hello,

I have just found my Great Grandfathers Index card.

I don't know hardly anything about him, except that he served in the Royal Army Service Corps.

He was a Driver

and his service number was T4- 044853

Can anybody make heads or tails of anything else written on this card. It all means nothing to me unfortunately.

There was another number we found in his possessions that said

46- R.P.A.S.C

I'm guessing the R.A.S.C means Royal Army Service Corps, but not sure what the P is, or the number 46

He was a serjeant at some stage. He entered a war zone, France on 19 Feb 1915, which entitled him to the 1915 Star.
The Army Service Corps did not add Royal until 1918, I think.
CLZ and all that means he was transferred to the Z Reserve in 1919 and was liable to recall.
The Roll and Page detail should cross reference to Medal Rolls which should be on Ancestry and may give more info.

The "T" at the start of his service number denotes that he was in the Horse Transport section of the RASC.

You have all helped me move further with my research and learn a little bit more about my Great Grandfather. Its great to know he was a Driver, and inparticular in Horse Transport. He was a bus driver in Maidstone outside of the military, so makes sense that he was a driver in the Army too.

You can get a war diary of 46 Reserve Park from TNA for £3.50 (108 pages)

Though that appears to be just the Mechanical Transport Company - perhaps there were other units in 46 RP.

Do you think theres a chance that he could have been at some point or another in both the Horse Transport and the Mechanical Transport divisions?

If he went from one to another would he have been given a different regiment number?
