Unable to find Property on Census Records 1891 et seq.
« on: Tuesday 09 April 19 13:26 BST (UK) »
Have a Property I am researching named Crugiau /Crygie
Found on Census Records each Census 1841 1851 1861 1872 1881
Under Cardiganshire
Aberystwyth
District No.5
In 1871 it is entry no.311 Head  =James Jones a Farmer
In 1881 it is entry no.305 Head = -Caroline Jones
but in 1891 et seq it disappears!
I think the Boundaries were redrawn.
As it currently sits on the Brook of the Boundary of Rhydyfelin.
I think it dropped out of Aberystwyth
Part of Rhydyfelin is in Llanbadarn
Llanycharian borders.

Want to find it 1891 1901 1911
Any ideas please ?

This may be the property, Crugiau House, for sale

Seems to fit the bill, on Rhydyfelin hill.

Yes, Thanks, have  that already.
The Person I am Researching Lewis Davies was born there in 1777
Joined the Army captured St.Lucia and Cape Town in 1794
Was with Wellington in India 1801
then Portugal and Spain 1812
Captured Two French Eagles at Salamanca and the City 1812
Became Major General and awarded CB
His Father Captured the French at Fishguard in 1797
Trying through Census Records  1891 1901 1911to see who lived there
after the Davies Family (1761 to1861)
Found Jones`  1871 and 1881
Then it disappears into another parish ?

You may wish to contact Ceredigion Archives:
Address.  Old Town Hall, Queens Square, Aberystwyth.  SY23 2EB
Tel:   01970 633697 or 633698
Email: archives@ceredigion.gov.uk

I have used this office in the past (when it was located in the old Queens Hotel) and found the staff extremely helpful.   They may suggest different sources.

Am a Regular Visitor to them on the First Floor there in the Archive Dept.
They have helped me alot in his research got out maps to find boundary but left me to it alone when they themselves couldn't explain what Parish it went into
Suggested it may not be listed as House name only Rhydyfelin
and suggested I trace occupants on next Census but it may well be the Davies Family rented it out to Tenants who in 1871 were Jones and in 1881 a different Jones
In 1891 1901 1911 could be any Surname if not under House Name
Need to find which Parish that area comes under after 1891 when Boundaries appear to have changed and its situated at several junctions.
