John HALFPENNY, Born 1834, Liverpool, Lancashire

Hello,

A John HALFPENNY, born 1834, migrated to New York aboard the "City of New York" in November/December 1854 according to Familysearch.

I wonder if this was the same John HALFPENNY, born 1834, Liverpool, Lancashire, who moved with his family to Bristol, Gloucestershire, sometime before 1848?   His parents were James (a Grocer) and Mary HALFPENNY.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I looked at familysearch for anyone named John, born between 1830 and 1840, with parents James Halfpenny and Mary. I didn't find anyone. So if he is the same person, it will be difficult to find out.

Then I just looked for John Halfpenny, b 1830 to 1840 in England. There were three men by that name that showed up in the US at familysearch. You could research them more and see if you can eliminate them or find some family information for them.

Please make your query more specific by mentioning other identifying details about the person you are looking for.  Do you know where and when he died?  His wife's name and date of birth?  His children's names and date of birth?  His brothers and sisters names and date of birth?

Thank you for your response.   I am very grateful.

The coincidence of the personal details gave me hope that they were one and the same person, but, sadly, that appears not to be the case.   Failing to find him in England after 1854 and then the migration information was too good an opportunity not to research.   Nobody said genealogy was simple!!!
