Higher Gorsen could be a farm name, or a rural location that doesn't appear on maps.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Carrington, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Bentham, Holloway, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Yorks, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

I  can't see Higher Gorson but this is Gourson to the south west of the village https://maps.nls.uk/view/106002020#zoom=4&lat=2944&lon=12670&layers=BT

thank you so much that is fantastic Kay.....  I am pretty sure there is still a gourson farm there... 8)

Higher Gourson, Northlew, Devon, England on the 1861 census for other agriculture labourers  born in Bratton Clovelly so the links are coming together
Higher Gourson Northlew showed up on another census in 1871 for  a totally different family and spelt Higher Gorson for this family on 1881 census as well!
