LDS Family History Centre - West Bridgford
« on: Thursday 11 April 19 06:20 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know if the LDS Family History Centre at West Bridgford is still open? Their web site says it is open on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings 10 -1pm.   I've tried phoning and sent an email but get no reply.  I dont want to drive miles only to discover its closed.

Thanks

While I can't help you with your question, I'd like to say that two LDS family history centres that I know of are the same. One in Adelaide that I'd used for years was down to appointments only; the one local to me now I've never been able to get in contact with.
I haven't myself, but perhaps contact the LDS through their website.
I'd be interested to hear their response.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Carrington, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Bentham, Holloway, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Yorks, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

Hi,

If you have tried contacting them this week they are most likely be closed for the Easter Holidays. I used to go there and they were always closed for the school holidays so best to try after Easter week.

Depending on what you want to know Nottingham Archives may be better.
Branfoot of Leeds; Nall of Nottingham; Wallis of Stapleford Nottinghamshire; Challand of  East Bridgford Notinghamshire: Hall of Fransfield Nottinghamshire;
Morral of Stanton By Dale, Derbyshire;

School holidays are probably the answer.
also
What I am wanting are GB War Records - which the LDS have indexed online - but images are only available at their centres.

Are you sure that what they have are not available elsewhere.

Who are you looking for and what film number are you trying to view

I am looking for surnames Horseman / Moses / Meatheringham on the Great Britain War Records.  Several films are involved. They are indexed on Family search but when I try to see the image it says they are only available to Church Members,  or at FHC's.
The originals are at the National Archives, but I never go there.  The centre at West Bridgeford is only 30 minutes drive away.
