Fred R Tucker - Torbay Life-boat crew.

Born Brixham 1882 - died 1940.
One of 12 or 13 siblings to John Brinham Tucker and his wife Sarah Ann (Nowell) who were married in 1863.

Fred Rupert was awarded a commendation for his RNLI services, and is named on the RNLI memorial at Dorset HQ.

I can't find any newspaper articles about the incident from the RNLI "George Shee" when he suffered extreme exposure, resulting in his death, or about his funeral.

Any info will be appreciated.

There are two almost word for word articles in the "Express and Echo" and "Gloucestershire Echo" on Aug 7 1940 referring to the weekly allowance being made to his widow as his "death was felt in large measure to be due to exposure while on service during severe weather in Jan last"

No reference is made to the crew

The August article implies that the death was after the event which may be why it was not covered

Looks like it must be a typo, but it does seem the poor man lingered for a while after the rescue incident.

His death would probably have attracted more attention during war time if there was a loss of life or vessel at sea; the circumstances probably detracted from his sacrifice.
