William Deakin
« on: Thursday 11 April 19 14:01 BST (UK) »
Hello again,

I'm searching for information about a number of Deakins, starting with a William Deakin, born on 12 November 1749, and I think a Will was dated 1765 in Wolverhampton.
I think he was the son of the Rev William Deakin of Lichfield. Born on 12 September 1721. I think he married a Sarah.
In turn his father was Francis Deakin of Lichfield, born on 15 February 1652.
He in turn was the son of Francis Deakin of Lichfield, born on 15 February 1682.
His father was Francis Deakin, baptised on 27 November 1651.
His father was Nicholas Deakin c.1630.
Before that.....nothing.
If anybody can help, I would be immensely grateful.
Cheers,
Geoff.

There's a baptism for a Nicholas Deakin in Lichfield on 19 Jan 1647 father Nicholas - could be your Francis's older brother. And a burial on 19 Jun 1656 for a Nicholas Deakin son of Nicholas and Mary. So that might identify your Francis's mother.

Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

Marriage on 06 Jun 1639 at Lichfield between Nicholas Deakin and Marie Baylie - could be the one. Where did you get Nicholas's year of birth from? A nicholas marrying in 1639 is likely to be born no later than 1620.

Micholas and Mary had an earlier Nicholas baptised the year of their marriage, looks like he died in 1642 buried as Nicholas Dekin on 08 Aug 1642 at Lichfield.

Hello LizzieL,

You're filling a lot of gaps re the Nicholas's.

The c. 1630 date for Nicholas Deakin is from a family tree printed in 1889.

Thanks - This has given me renewed impetus - I'll keep plugging away.

Francis born 1652 can't have been son of Francis born 1682.  ???
In addition, Francis born 1652 would have been nearly 70 when William was born 1721. When and how many times did he marry ?

Hello Maiden Stone,

My apologies - The entry for Francis Deakin, dated 15 Feb 1652 is incorrect. It is a duplicate of 15 Feb 1682 and should be ignored.

I hope I haven't caused you too much grief.

I am doing this too late at night!!
