1812 Dorothy Richards of Trevine Llanrhian will question

This is the will for Dorothy and has an 1812 date.  I can't see when she died?  Was it written just before she died or was that much later?   I think that there were at least 3 children Thomas, John and Martha but I am really struggling with the handwriting.

Can anyone help?

Dorothy died between 24 December 1811 and the day Administration of the will was granted.  I will come to this latter date shortly.

The first date is stated at the bottom of the main text on the will page.

There is a note that the will was signed and delivered by the Testator on that date.

The jacket says that the will was proved and probate issued on 23 December 1812.

The Grant of Administration is on the other page.  It should be the same date as the jacket.

The day is clearly 23 and the year is 1812.

The month isn't at all clear, but I would say it must be Decbr.

Unfortunately, a will won't normally say the exact date of death.

Thank you.  I will now try and work out the family.  I am assuming that son William as the executor is the eldest and then the other sons are presumably mentioned in age order.

There appears to be other daughters - Jane Davis and Sarah Rees?

I was having a quick glance at the family when your reply came in.

The first girl isn't Martha but I'm not sure what her name is (not an expert on Welsh names).

I agree with Jane Davis and Sarah could well be Rees.  He doesn't form his letters well so it's hard to be sure.

I have to end for the night now, Alan.  With luck someone else will help you further.

I think it's written Mriah, so probably = Maria (as in the last witness, bottom right)
