Hi again,

Forget about that 1841 family in Crosshill  ! ::)

1841 Maybole, Main Street.

John Alexander          40    Tailor
Janet Alexander         35
John McBlane             15   Tailor journeyman
Joseph Speirs             15   Tailor apprentice
David McBlane            10
William Niven              18    Clerk

All born in Ayrshire. Looks like David Blane/Blain/McBlane with his aunt and uncle at approx. age 10. John McBlane is perhaps a brother or a cousin. If we could just find out Janet's maiden name ??

Looby :)

Would this be him on the 1891 census address 18,Green Street Shettleston Lanarkshire
David Blane age 60 born Maybole Ayrshire ( shoemaker )
Kate Blane age 62 born same place wife
Isabella Bane age 20 born Tollcross (power loom weaver )

Rosie

Is Kate Blane a second wife ?? If so, there should be a marriage registration?

Looby :)

There is a Euphemia Blain age 47 born about 1804 Maybole Ayrshire ( farm outworker )
Thomas Brown age 13 born Maybole Ayrshire ( son )
Margaret Alexander age 14 born Maybole Ayrshire (lodger )

Maybe this Margaret ties up with the Alexander family David is with

1861 address Inches Close Main Street Maybole Ayrshire ( same address in 1851 )

Euphemia Blain age 61 Arg; Lab
Thomas Brown age 24 ( shoemaker journeyman )

No Looby think its the same wife Isabella  ???

::) ;D  Isabella shortened to Kate ? Of course !! (Sometimes you have to think the ancestors were being deliberately awkward - as if they knew 150 years later some-one would be trying to unravel the past  ;D )

So, drat ! No second marriage certificate.

Looby  :)
