Hi have some army records, I believe he was RC

Died in 1938

During the night?

In view of his advanced age he may have slept his way into the next world.
I was going to ask which war but Heywood has supplied info.

Thanks for your post, Heywood. I will cease poking haystacks in Roscommon. 
The Peter whose death I posted in reply #6 died of "senile decay", as did most of the others on same page. They lived to a great age in that district.
Peter's age recorded at registration may have been an estimate by his nephew.

I was a bit unsure how this worked, and what to post and how helpful you guys would be, and didn't want to seem like I just wanted other people to do the work for me.

You guys have been really helpful so far, thanks to the GRO tip I've found the birth certificate of his daughter which may point me to the missing line of my family

A quick question, thanks to all the help on here, I have managed to find the parish records for Peter, but I'm finding it hard to translate the scans.  To me it's illegible, is there a transcript service out there?
