I knew it was familiar and realised I had looked at those births with mother Daly before.
Looking at 1911 again, you have Thomas b Gosport so that seems to be your Thomas.
The ages of the girls don’t quite match the Daly girls and you have the name difference.
Do you know anything of Thomas and the girls after 1911?
There is a published tree which shows a marriage for your Thomas McDermott and Mary Ann McCarthy in 1889. There are details of the marriage but no link.
There is little information but has 1911 census details.
GRO births and deaths with those parent names
Timothy b 1889 Poplar
Timothy d 1890 Bromley
Ellen b 1891 Poplar
Ellen d 1891 Poplar
Beatrice Mary b 1894 Ticehurst
Beatrice Mary d 1897 West Ham
Catherine b 1900 Poplar
Catherine d 1900 Poplar
The tree does have further details, including an image, re Mary Elizabeth McDermott b 1897 but I can’t see a birth.there are baptism details but no direct link.
It’s confusing.
I don't think they're the same and GRO records must have given me a different Mary McDermott birth certificate. This is what I know:
Great Great Grandfather - Peter McDermott b 1833 - Stocketown, Roscommon
Date TBD Married to Ellen McDermott (born McDonnall 1841, Fermoy C.Cork)
Great Grandfather - Thomas McDermott b 1871 Gosport, Hants (His father Peter was in the army)
1881 - Thomas 10 in Census
TBD - Thomas Marries assumed it was Julie Daly - Now in doubt
1897 - Birth of Daughter Mary - Poplar
1899 - Birth of Daughter Margaret Mary - Poplar (Mt Grandmother)
1899-1915 - Death of Wife
1911 Census - 4. Wightman Street, Victoria Docks, Essex, England. He is now a Widower
1915 - Death of Thomas
Now I thought this Julia Daly was his missing wife, but that is not looking likely.
The names are super similar, but the ages don't quite add up and neither do the children. So back to the drawing board
Fascinating stuff. And it's so frustrating as it's not that long ago
