Brick wall

I am not exactly new to family history but have recently started looking at my father's maternal line with the name of Hickey.

I immediately hit a brick wall.  According to marriage certificate and census's my grandmother Agnes Bridget Hickey was born around 1882 in Westminster. Her father was John her mother may have been Mary.

However I can find no birth in Westminster around that date. And no record of Agnes with father John in 1881 or 1871 census.

Could the family have come from Ireland i wonder?

Can anyone suggest any areas I can search which may move me on?

Can you say which census and at what address your grandmother appears to indicate her birth as around 1882 and in Wesminster?

Presumably Hickey was her maiden name - When and who did she marry  and  what was her father's occupation??

Do you really mean she was born 1882, or perhaps it’s a typo for 1862?  If the former I wonder why you are looking for her in the 1871 and 1881 censuses?

Father John Hickey a Builder? :-\

EDIT - add in that Agnes Hickey gives age as 23. Marriage 3 August 1901

Agnes Hickey, 22, born Westmister, in Merton in 1901 with widowed mother Ellen Hickey, 53, born Birmingham.

There is a 3 year old Bridget Hickey in Lambeth in 1881. Parents John and Ellen. Mother born Birmingham
