Diagonal lines on 1841 census

hi  could could tell me what the single diagonal lines next to the ages on this 1841  census page mean please. Thanks

If it's what I think it is, then:

a double diagonal line (//) shows the break between dwellings.
a single diagonal line (/) shows the break between different households. (As in Head of Household).

In 1841 the beginning of the first 'family' coincided with the beginning of the house but its end was signified by a single oblique stroke on the dividing line between the houses and names columns. The next 'family' then began, ending with a single stroke unless it happened to be the last household in the house when the end of a house was marked with a double stroke.

The lines you mention which are in addition to the lines that define households are probably just the enumerator marking entries when doing their statistical information.  They have put similar marks in the 'where born'  column when the person was not born in county.  They do appear to have been added after the original entries
