Hi avm228,

There’s also a possible entry for her in the same asylum in 1891 - S.A.W., female, 48, married, lunatic.

Many thanks indeed for that, very much appreciated.

I think that these sightings are very probably her.

My thanks again.

Kind regards

David

You’re welcome. I don’t have any experience of researching patients there but it looks as though some records may survive? www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/details.asp?id=525&page=57

Many thanks for the above link, much appreciated, looks like there may be some admission & discharge records available at East Sussex Record Office, if I read it correctly.

My thanks again.

Kind regards

Great find.  So sad that a person with what would now be understood as depression was confined to an institution for the rest of her life.

jonw65, that is a brilliant find, thank you very much indeed, much appreciated!

avm228, agreed, very sad indeed.

I have also got Sarah Ann in 1901 as well now, also in the same asylum.

My thanks to you both, your assistance is very much appreciated.

Kind regards
