  I don't think any of the counties of Ulster are pronounced as written, are you after the Gaelic pronunciation of Cavan?

Thanks again to all who have assisted. It certainly helps to hear someone saying it - thanks for the link hallmark.  :)

Long story, but the reason for my query is that this is a forename of a relative of someone my daughter knows and I want to know the correct way to say his name. Having said that, the person is Australian, so may pronounce it differently. I am still interested in the “usual” Irish pronunciation though.  :)

In Cavan, they say Kyah - vun, but the rest of us say KAHV-vun.

I say it like the girl in hallmark's link but I'm not sure if that Kav-an or Ka-van ;D
