ancestry.co.uk - free access to records over Easter.
« on: Friday 19 April 19 02:55 BST (UK) »
Hello, I just went to the ancestry.co.uk site to look up something - and it is free access over this long weekend. It seems to cover a lot of records.

Is it me or does it not allow you access to Member family trees?

I  have never tried that; maybe someone else can advise there.

EDIT: NO I'm pretty sure it doesn't allow access to FTs. Only to a restricted set of records, which does include 1939 National Register.

Over the years, "Free Access..."   proves to me to be such a misnomer.  Yes An...y gives you the absolute bare details, but nothing at all gives the satisfaction of actually seeing the real total information in real documents of the time  e.g. - Births/deaths registers - so much info - even census - Anc...y bare bones info just names the person - parents, and maybe address - not the full list of family - and how many times have I found relatives living in same tenement building... Did once take out membership of An...y but quickly found out it is just not worth with it with Scottish records - Long live "Scotlands People'!

And if I key in a name, year of birth 1912 Scotland, why does it give me everything under the sun - e.g. 1851 census!! - England - Canada - etc. etc. Frustrating - Would have been nice to see 1939 info!  Or even just anything after 1912!
