Forces in Lucknow - 1878
« on: Sunday 21 April 19 17:20 BST (UK) »
Help  :-*

I have an image of a birth registration - January 1878 in Lucknow for Anne O'Brien, daughter of Thomas and Margaret.

Could some kind soul please interpret the details given for Thomas?

ADDED:  and any idea where I might find further details for Thomas.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

FindMyPast has an army file for a Thomas O'Brien of the 73rd Regiment, discharged at Lucknow in 1880:
https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBM/WO97/2068/057/001&parentid=GBM/WO97/2068/447834

(NB the relief of Lucknow was in 1857 - not a possibility for this man who joined the army in 1859).

Thank you very much for that, ShaunJ.  I hadn't thought of looking on-line  :-[

The British Library Euston Road London has a lot of information about registrations of British people in the pre independence Indian sub continent. There is also the British India FHS, who are very good.

Many thanks, I'll look into it.

I've had a look at the information suggested by ShaunJ, but there doesn't appear to by anything there to definitely link Thomas with daughter Anne.  However, Thomas doesn't seem to have always behaved himself!!!
