Approx date of soldiers, Richard Kinmel camp North wales American Galleries

Hi, trying to find out who the 2 soldiers are by getting an idea of the date. Would it be around ww1? The back says ‘my uncle Richard is sitting down’ but it doesn’t help at the moment as we don’t know who wrote the note either! Thanks.

These look much more like British soldiers.  Canadian uniforms had collar badges and different tunics.
The badges might be Royal Welsh Fusiliers and the belts possibly earlier than 1914.
Let the experts in !

This is a Patagonian family with links to north Wales (Caernarfonshire). Extended family links to USA and Canada.

Found out who it was, Richard (Ricardo) Jones, born in England in 1881 shortly before the family emigrated to Patagonia. His parents Humphrey and Annie were from North Wales. Not sure how he came to be in north Wales, or the army, though.

Kinmel Camp is an interesting topic in itself.
Some would say there was something of a cover up. There was even a TV docu drama based on the events there some years ago now.

It was a transit camp for Canadian troops.

The riot was a matter of fact and took place in 1919. The camp is just 10 minutes from my house so will be fascinated to see if you can identify them.
