Free BMD is it down or something?
« on: Tuesday 23 April 19 22:53 BST (UK) »
I cant access Free BMD today 23rd April. The page Home Page looks normal but if you type any searches in nothing returns and you just see the adverts were the search results should be. Ive tried with criteria I know returns correct matches but nothing comes up at all. Never known this with Free BMD, anyone else having this problem?

I've been using it on and off all day and it's been fine. I use Chrome.

FreeBMD works fine for me at home. However, if I try to use it at the Library, where I use Ancestry, it doesn't work - in the sense that I get no results at all like you - but if I try too broad a search I get the "too many results" page as usual.

Apparently this is because their PCs are so old, and still running Windows XP. They can't be updated for some reason, but might trying such an update work for you?

Edit: I assume your ipad is fairly new, but it could be the same issue in two different operating systems. You could try contacting FreeBMD, but I've had no success when I've tried - the site hasn't been modified for some time and still suffers that outdated cache problem. You could ask in one of the tech forums.

Just seen this, are you using an iPad?

"Apparently there is a problem with using FreeBMD on iPad with IOS 9.3.5. Our volunteer developers are working on this, but at the moment the only workaround is to use this link https://lght.ly/d6kdl5p "

Yep, I was using an iPad..in bed! Mine is an older model.
When I powered up my desktop computer today all was well.
It must be an iPad problem as you say.
Thanks.
