Hi

On the birth certificate of my grandfather Arthur Richard guy maunder b Feb 1901

Gives the address where born as 60 cathedral road, st John's, in Cardiff

Same ad the mother

What sort of place would this house have been ?? A single mothers refuge ??

Where is or was cathedral road

Is it possible to find who was living there in 1900 to Feb 1901 ??

Regards Phil

Maunder nee Guy suggests she was married so why are you asking if it was a  single mothers refuge?

60 Cathedral Road, Cardiff appears to be just a normal house - occupied in 1901 by a family named Simey and they were still there 10 years later.

Presumably you’ve seen that the baby (as Arthur R. Guy) was with a Goodwin family at 3 Machen St, Cardiff in the 1901 census.  Coincidentally or not, they also had a son Arthur R, aged 12 (Arthur Richard Goodwin, mmn Jones, Sep qtr 1888 Cardiff).

Cathedral Road starts near the city centre, not far from the castle and goes out towards Llandaff where the cathedral is, it becomes Cardiff Road before it gets there. Substantial houses near the start, now b&bs, hotels, flats.
