Deciphering Index at St Kevins Harrington Street Dublin
« on: Friday 26 April 19 21:52 BST (UK) »
Can anyone please tell me how to understand the index to records at above parish as all each entry gives is a number???
This is so frustrating as I come across records all the time there.

Why look at the Index when the Images are online?

I had to work backwards.
First I just picked one at random from the Image Reel
Sarah Hickey bottom of the page number 366, in the top corner there is a page number 23
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633735#page/31/mode/1up
Than I found her in the index reel
Sarah Hickey First column number 23,
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633732#page/208/mode/1up
than I looked her up on Irish Genealogy,
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01npr/
They have the page number and the entry number but book number is NR, I think those roman numerals could be book numbers but I can't see how to find one book from another.
If you do want to use the index I'd than look for them on Irish Genealogy or just skip the index completely and use Irish Genealogy.

Still seems unneccessarily complicated but I am on my phone now and will check tomorrow on computer.
If you look at St Nicholas Without in Dublin at reels that are indexed you will see how simplified they have indexed everything.
Thanks for taking time to help and for such a detailed explanation.
