Service records for all military personnel serving after 1920 are still with the MOD ;D
See: www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records

There is a fee of £30; as he died in service, you will not need to provide a copy of a death certificate.

To add to KGarrad’s findings, there is no death of a Bernard Hinchcliffe in the British Forces overseas death Register.

Thank you all for for your support
Would your searches have included  aircrew who might have come from Ireland or the Empire ( Commonwealth now) 0r perhaps the US?

Norman

Aircrew Remembered include all personnel who were involved in flying with RAF, including those from Commonwealth and other Countries. Some of the Hinchcliffe's mentioned were Royal Canadian Airforce (RCAF) personnel.
