All l can say is, -

Get as many family members as possible to also test. If nothing else, it helps you to see which side the shared Matches are coming from.

I've managed to get my sister, 4 first cousins, and my Mother to test, and although it has helped, - I still haven't managed to break down the 40+ years Brick wall that I've still got with my Paternal Grandfather.

I shall watch with interest to see what other people suggest!

Romilly.

There is an article here that should help with an intro to Ancestry DNA results:

https://www.lostcousins.com/newsletters2/wedding18.htm#Masterclass

She will really need to look at her 'shared matches' to work out possible relationships.

If Towdlass  could put up the shared DNA (written as <number>cM ) with her matches, we could probably give more help.

Added - I managed to find my grandfather's father.

Just one other thought, -

Upload your Ancestry DNA to all of the other Sites that will accept it. Off the top of my head, - GEDMatch, My Heritage, Family Tree Site, Living DNA...

Not everyone tests with Ancestry, - and so worth doing.

For somewhere to start use the DNA matches with family trees to sort which side of your family they connect too i.e. Mother or Father.
You could then take it further by sorting the results (Mum's side ones or Dad's side ones, whichever Grandpa is from) to remove the matches you know are grandma's line.  When that's done search the trees in this group and look for common surnames or trees that show the same families.  Use these as a guide to see if they put a 'suspect' of the right age in the right place at the right time to be Grandpa.
Hope this is of some help.
