maximum age for living people
« on: Monday 29 April 19 22:00 BST (UK) »
Hi,
What is the age until which rootschat presumes a person is living? 90? 95?
Thank you.

Normal assumption is 100 years

But at the rate the number of people living past 100 is increasing , maybe the assumption should be 110?

Whether Rootschat has any hard and fast rule other than not posting names of people known or possibly still alive, I don't know, but maybe others do
Wainwright - Yorkshire
Whitney - Herefordshire
Watson -  Northamptonshire
Trant - Yorkshire
Helps - all
Needham - Derbyshire
Waterhouse - Derbyshire
Northing - all

The Help section on this subject does not specify the number of years.  I assume 100 years but I think I've stretched the rules by a year or two now and then and not been called out for it.

I assume 100 and would be cautious about people a few years older. Always err on side of caution.
Just seen Marmalady's post and agree with 110. Maximum age would be 120 as I don't think anyone has exceeded that. I would also be careful about what details I posted on a public forum about people who were alive in my lifetime so as not to upset relatives.

It's a US death of a lady born in 1913 but alive in 2006. I'm going to put it on the US Lookup board, but wanted to make sure I about the living vs dead question first. She'd be 105, so I think I will mention her name and if the moderator edits it out, then so be it. I can live with that.
