Hi Matt
Alice may be mentioned in William's will. Other than in the wills I haven't seen any sign of her so far!
But the curious thing about those wills to me is that they say "he gave", "his sonne", etc

Hi John

I think Richard's Will is a nuncupative Will, that is to say it was spoken by him and recorded by someone. Hence why it says "he gave" and refers to "his sonne" etc.

I've already found some more Wills to investigate and hope to look at them tomorrow before or after work.

Matt

Hi again Matt
I do agree with you analysis, Richard = son of William.
Alas, no sign of Mary Banwell though.
Good luck with the other wills!
John

Hi Matt,
I know that a couple of years have passed, but these Brinkwells are my ancestors too and I have some information about them - some consistent with your conclusions, and some in addition.
Richard Brinkwell, Yeoman
Christened, Petworth, 9 Feb 1605/6
Married, Patworth, 28 Jul 1631 to Mary Bomwell/Banwell
Interred, Petworth, 16 Apr 1638
Mary Bomwell (looks like that in the Register)
Interred, Petworth, 13 Mar 1637/8
Richard was the son of William Brinkwell, also a Yeoman
Christened, Petworth, 8 Feb 1569/70
Married, Coldwaltham, 4 Jun 1600 to Jane Potter
Interred, Petworth, 2 Jan 1630/31
Jane Potter
Christened, Slinfold, 3 Apr 1654
Interred, 7 Apr 1613
William was the son of another William Brinkwell
Married, Petworth, 5 Feb 1561/2 to Agnes Napper
Interred, Petworth, 20 Mar 1596/7
Agnes Napper
Interred, Petworth, 12 Jul 1596

And that's as far back as I can go - at the moment
