How do I open Microsoft Works files in Windows 10?

1.   Download and install the Microsoft Works 6-9 File Converter. ...
2.   After the installation is complete, locate one of those pesky .wps files and Double-click it.
3.   Now you will have a dialog that reads “Windows can't open this file: ….” ...
4.   In the Open with dialog box, Select Microsoft Word.

Long shot but try copying (COPY not MOVE) the file to a different directory or onto your desktop.
Now rename the file suffix from .wps to .txt and see if it will open.

Its a real long shot but you have nothing to lose as long as its just a copy and you have the original file elsewhere on your pc :-)

   I was going to suggest something similar like opening the File, going to end of it and entering a full stop or even just hitting return to add a blank line to it...

then Save As      whatever.doc

which leaves the existing File as is  and the new File.
