Better off watching a video on it...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXMcfkAGC7Y   for example
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

If you are going back from W10 to W8, you might need to run it in Compatability Mode...

I don't have MS Word to give directions on how to change Modes.

I think it is Tools>Options> Run in Compatabilty Mode for a Previous Version of Windows   but not sure

Sorry!

An MS Word user might know.

Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

.wps files were created in MS Works, which was dis-continued in 2006.

MS did give instructions on how to convert Works files to Word's .doc files here:

Sorry, the link in my previous post may not be too helpful - especially as I meant this to be the link!

If you don't have any success with the other suggestions, you could try downloading LibreOffice, which is free. I just checked and it does open .wps files.

The old M$ Works file extension used was *.wps. This has now been deprecated.
You can convert all your .wps files online to *.doc, *.docx, *.txt and *.odt etc.
