Are we looking for Elizabeth Dwyer or Elizabeth Pitman?

Have you any idea of her birth date?

I have found Charles Thomas Pitman marrying Elizabeth Dwyer 1901 in Bury Lancs, is this the family?

www.freebmd.org.uk has listed only one from Isle of Wight 1939, but she has a middle initial

More information would be a huge help

Hello My Gt.Aunt was born 1882 Heywood Lancashire England married Charles in Bury Lancs 1 jun 1901. I have her in Jersey 1911 Census with Charles and family. I have never found a record o death, despite searching for years. Her Husband is listed as widow in St.Hellier on Occupation records 1943. Her last child Gordon was born 1923. So somewhere between 1923 and 43 she die. One of my CI cousins believes she died 1927 05 Jun in St. Hellier. The Jersey Archives list an Elizabeth Dwyer in St. Hellier Death 1927  records pg 27 vol 54. But I cannot access their actual records. And I tried searching Newspapers but no Channel newspapers available to search. She is the only one of my Mother's family i have never been able to pin point death. Was hoping someone here me be able to help.

Oh Dear, that's a shame, she might have died on the mainland which would come under Hampshire
as Isle of Wight does

Have you found where her husband was buried, they might have been buried together

If the 1927 records might be her is it worth purchasing the certificate

If you have her husband listed on 1943 is it possible to find the nearest burial ground  to see if she was buried  there

Hope you get more details perhaps from someone more local

The date you have for her death is correct. The record from Croad's Funeral Director's reads,

"Elizabeth Dwyer, wife of Charles Thomas Pitman died at the General Hospital 5th March 1927 aged 49 years, buried Wednesday 9th at Mont a l'Abbe new cemetery in the quarter sepulchre number 125 letter X, 2nd North grave in the name of Chs T Pitman"

That was a good find, buried in her maiden name , is that usual?

I am very sorry, for some reason I was looking at Isle of Wight, sorry to have confused you

The use of the maiden name, where known, on any official documents is very normal in Jersey.
If Shona had looked a little further at the death indexes where she found Elizabeth Dwyer on page 27 she would probably have found an Elizabeth Pitman also registered on page 27.

Louisa Thanks for assistance .
I have often thought if she had returned to mainland near her folks but was never ever able to locate her there. The Jersey archives are great in some respect but limited that unless less you live there the actual info is limited to a name and year.
La Grande thank you so much for transcribing the notice for me I am so grateful. I did see the death record for Pitman and Dwyer  but in general search I have found a number of Elizabeth Dwyer and Elizabeth Pitman- but not for year 1927.
So thank you all. I have never been disappointed at the assistance and knowledge of those on this site. And for the record if any of you have any Scottish Relatives, I have access to the Scottish register and willing to look up queries.
Bless you all
