1945 - H A Fraser, clerk CNR, 218 318 Osborne Ave (V).

Note - Sandra found a voters list from 1949 for Hugh and his wife at 318 Osborne Ave (see Reply 21 below)...I just rechecked the 1945 directory and increased the font a lot (so I could see it better!!).  The address in the directory is 318 Osborne. :-[

1924-1925 Montreal Directory shows Hugh A Fraser at 202 First Ave, Verdun.  (like the address you had for him, but it is First Ave, not Firth Ave.).  Hugh is listed as an employee of the CNR.

Quick look in the 1964-1965 directory and there is no Hugh A Fraser.

I think the death that Sandra found for 1962 is looking very promising.  Definitely worth checking :)

Dear RunKitty, You have given us a lots of food for thought on Hugh Alex Fraser and your observations tie in with his Grand Niece's notes for Lovells Directory Montreal 1924-35 220 First Avenue, Verdun, Montreal but she has a few typos later in her "many, many" pages of notes! Yes, I reckon that the obituaries in the Montreal Gazette are a good bet for us to follow up on. It is like searching through the many sources of MI's in Scotland for 1700 - 1800 headstones to get at the older parts of the Family Tree - yes, it is a slog but on many times worth it!

We do appreciate your thoughts and work in digging out these nuggets on Hugh Alex Fraser.

Many thanks, nw_whiskers.

Dear Sandra, That is "great" as we now have a clear view of a Mrs H Fraser - 318 Oborne Ave. Verdun

As an "old guy" I will need to run a lot faster to keep up with the pace you are all setting!

Many thanks for that, nw_whiskers.

You are welcome :)

Don't blame the Grandniece for the typos...looks like the error was made on the 1925 passenger list.  It says Adam Robertson Fraser is going to his brother at 202 Firth Ave, Verdun, Montreal.

Just had a quick look online...there is a 202 First Ave, Verdun, but no 202 Firth Ave Verdun...so First ave (as it says in the Montreal Directory) must be correct.

Unfortunately not :'(, there are no initials for a Mrs Fraser with Hugh Fraser.  Only his name is listed in the directories that I checked.  Sometimes a wife's name is mentioned in parentheses, but not for Hugh.
