Searching for William Carr b. about 1810, England
« on: Saturday 04 May 19 02:14 BST (UK) »
Searching for information on William Carr, who was a Soldier in Australia in 1837, I have found one reference to a William Carr of the 1/50th Regiment of Foot, but no details at all. I have a Death Cert. for his daughter Elizabeth Jane Carr d. Bumberry NSW 27/11/1912 ; b. 1835 in Durham, England to William Carr, Soldier, and Elizabeth Jane Unknown. Elizabeth married John G Dudley in 1852 at Young NSW. and had 5 children. Her Death Cert also states that she was married first to a William Davis and had 3 children who were all deceased at the time of her death.  I cannot find any information on this William Davis marriage or family, and I have not been able to find anything on William Carr. Any information or suggestions will be gratefully accepted, thank you.

Elizabeth married John G Dudley in 1852 at Young NSW

Shouldn't that be 1866?  The marriage cert should give you her mother's maiden name.

If you are using recorded information in your research it is important to give all the details. Can you please list all the details on the death certificate.

May I ask, from the 1912 death cert, what response is given to the question 'how long in the colonies/state'

The first two children were illegitimate:

CARR, EMMA
6179/1864
Mother: ELIZABETH
YOUNG

CARR, UNNAMED FEMALE
6251/1866
Mother: ELIZABETH
YOUNG

DUDLEY, EMMA
6179/1864
Parents: JOHN & ELIZABETH
YOUNG

DUDLEY, UNNAMED FEMALE
6251/1866
Parents: JOHN & ELIZABETH
YOUNG

If Elizabeth was actually married to William DAVIS then it is unlikely that she would have married as CARR.

Can you please list all the information on the death certificate, 1912.

You need to see the marriage certificate, 1866.

Reply to question re "How long in Colony" - Death Cert. states 75 years
Reply to Details quoted from Certs - Is it permissible to copy and paste or do I need to type in by hand? I have attached a copy of the Death Cert., and Marriage Cert
Reply to Debra - thank you so much for your help - I was going round in circles, you are correct again, there was no son named Lancelot. The Marriage Cert. doesn't have the parents named.   Re the children 1. Emma Carr b. 1864 at Young, Mother - Elizabeth, prior to her marriage to J G Dudley ; 2. Female Carr b.1866 at Young, parents John and Elizabeth, also born prior to the marriage.
I am not overly concerned with finding William Davis, he was recorded  in another Family Tree without backing evidence. I am having great difficulty tracing Elizabeth's parents, including the Regiment that father William served with.  Thank you very much, I am most appreciative of the help given here.
