Maguire or McGuire

I am trying to trace any information of my great grandfather’s family in Ireland I’ve come to a complete stop in my research. The only information I’ve got comes from his marriage in Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland which I can send you a copy. He and his wife, Father and mother all have ‘Ireland ‘  as their details can you help?

Would be good if you could add full names and dates from the marriage cert. Witness names? Ages/ est date of births?

Did they remain in Scotland after their marriage in Dalkeith? Depending on dates, have you got them on the Scottish censuses?

Tracing Irish roots can be hard so any detail is worth checking for.

Thanks for the reply I have found the information I need about my great grandfather/mother after their wedding (through the censuses and Scottish records) but nothing before their wedding, all my research into the Irish records have drawn a blank. I could attach a copy of their marriage cert to my next reply but I don’t know if that is allowed or advised. I could give you all the info I have but their original location in Ireland is unknown. I don’t know if this forum is for research help or not, if it is I can supply all the information I have.  Please advise.

RootsChat is all about people trying to help others with their research. So, please do add some details so people can see where you are at. It is not possible to add whole images of certificates here due to copyright issues. You can add clips of the cert though, such as details of bride and groom's parents perhaps.

Marriage information:    from Parish of Dalkeith, County of Edinburgh
Place & Date: St David’s Catholic church,  Dalkeith, Midlothian. 19/01/1880
Age and Signature of Parties:  John Maguire, (his x mark )26 years  Gen Labourer ,  Bachelor .  Bridget Clarke (her x mark) 26 years Papermill worker, Spinster.      
 Usual residence: Both at Loanhead, Lasswade.
John’s Father/ Mother: Edward McGuire, Gen Labourer (deceased). Helen McGuire, (M.S.Keernan)
Bridget’s Father/Mother: James Clarke, Gen Labourer (deceased).  Annie Clarke,(M.S. Brogan)   
Witnesses: Mr Thomson, Anthony Caraline and Martin Clarke.
All the censuses I have  cover John’s/Bridget’s life , Chidren,  location (Loanhead)and deaths (records).
In all the censuses, under ‘’Where Born’’ both John and Bridget have entered Ireland   and at this point I am stuck   .  I have no starting point (Location) for both, or via their individual parents or family and I’ve tried various Irish searches both civil and church . I don’t know when or where John and Bridget originated or came to Scotland. If you can point me in any other direction or advise me where to go from here I would be grateful and if there is any other information you need please ask. You will have noticed that the surname has changed from McGuire to Maguire  I saw this on Johns Marriage Cert and also the change appeared on Patrick his son’s (my grandfather) birth cert.
