Burial at Christchurch, Oldbury before the church was consecrated ?
« on: Saturday 04 May 19 19:55 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I have found a burial on Free reg for Samuel Ater, on the 30th April 1837 aged 55 at Christchurch, Oldbury, Worcestershire. Reg no 565, file line no 571 ( register unknown )
I then found out that Christchurh in Oldbury wasn't consecrated till 1841  :-[
There is a chance that he could could have been in the 1st Royal Dragoons and I am wondering if this might have something to do with this burial. To be honest I am unsure what to do next and any advice would be gratefully received  :)

Was the church possibly a Chapel of Ease?
It would then have been attached to a Mother Church, before becoming a church in it's own right.

Spot on kg, Christchurch was built to replace the dilapidated St Nicholas chapel.
