Look up please for occupants or description of an address 16, Park place, Park Street, Luton in the years around 1915?
I’m looking for a ‘Ada Denton Bates’ in particular as she lived and had a child ‘Lester Spalding Kitchener Bates’ there.

Any help very much appreciated
John

You have already asked for this information on this other post. https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=812390.

You will be lucky to get electoral registers for the period during WW1.  Also not many women would appear on them as they were not entitled to vote.

Hi Rosie thanks for your help, this address I asked for is not the same as you have mentioned I asked for on that thread, as below;

Another person johnP kindly gave occupants for the below from the Luton year books 1911 and 1917 which is collected in 1916, I didn’t mention the electoral registers, I am just following all leads to find her.
Any help with the above address would be appreciated.
Thanks
John

Could someone help with a look up please for the following 2 addresses on the 1911 census and the inhabitants or what the addressee where then?

406, hitchin road, Luton
333, high town road, Luton.

Thank you
John

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to post information from the 1911 census other than that which is available in the free indexes.

In 1918 electoral registers and later, that house was occupied by Alfred and Bertha Plowman.

Park Place was a set of 16 addresses that were between 70 & 72 Park Street....

At #16 in the 1911 Luton Directory is Hugh Bunyan
At #16 in the 1917 Luton Directory is Mrs Bates !

Seems Luton Central Library local studies section has these....
Directories and Almanacs
• Luton directories, 1903 - 1975
• Bedfordshire directories, 1785 – 1940
• Bedfordshire directories on CD-ROM: 1830, 1847, 1864, 1869, 1877, 1890, 1898
• Luton News almanacs, 1900 - 1916
• Telephone directories, Luton and surrounding area, 1961 to date

Great find!

There were two Bunyan deaths in WW1 that could be looked at.
Herbert Bunyan, 1915,  Sherwood Foresters and George Bunyan, 1914, Highland Light Infantry.

Well done JP and Haywood 8), that supports my theory on the other thread that the two boys born in 1913 and 1915 were left Fatherless during the 1st world war, the Mother couldn't support them resulting in them being taken into care and being sent for adoption to Australia as Children.
Great work...I have searching for Ada after 1901 for a couple of days and got nothing...no marriage, death and she doesn't appear on the 1939 register that I could see so there must have been a name change  ::)

Herbert Bunyan, 1915,  Sherwood Foresters and George Bunyan, 1914, Highland Light Infantry.

Those 2 boys were at that address in 1911, George age 21 & Herbert age 19, both privates in the Bedfordshire Regiment ....
