Hi
There is a RN officers record for a Leslie Gerald Griffiths who served in WW1 and became a Lieut Commander in later days, served WW2 I think and sadly died on board the ship Durban Bay in 1951 aged 56
Born Burton on Trent Staffs, he certainly had a long and varied career at sea and looks a good candidate.

Thanks Cathy,I've seen records of him.One thing to go on,there is a mention of the S.S.Lucy Borchard and he highlights his travels on her in 1950.

This article suggests that he, or his namesake, was a lt. commander in 1929.

There is a Lieut Com L G Griffiths that wrote quite a few interesting pieces in the papers, one wonderful piece about "Christmas and Black Magic".
