Please help me find records for the first marriage for WILLIAM HINKS.

Born & baptised Leicestershire 1800 (village of Enderby, between Leicester and Hinckley).
   Father Richard Hinks, mother Rebecca.
William Hinks remarried in Nuneaton as a widower in 1846. Spouse Eleanor Handley.
   Always a Carpenter/joiner, wherever mentioned.
He moved to Cubbington (south of Coventry). Easy to find on later censuses.
He had just the one son with Eleanor i.e. James Hinks born c.1850, James went to Aston, shoemaker.

What I need:
Evidence of WILLIAM HINKS' first marriage. When, where, which spouse?
And especially: evidence of birth of William Hinks' daughter CAROLINE HINKS circa 1827.
(I can't locate either of them on 1841 census nor any birth for Caroline.)

I've ruled out William Hinks + Hannah Argyle, banns 1821 Nuneaton, marriage Birmingham 1822 (anyone know why the banns were a year before the marriage?) He's a maltster, not my man.

All suggestions welcome, thank you very much. Please amend any of my details here if incorrect.

There is a 15 year-old Caroline Hincks living close to Enderby (in Sapcote) in the 1841 census, but she appears to be with several siblings so probably not her.

Thank you Richard, very good idea, however I've thoroughly explored the Sapcote Hincks with a local researcher (this Caroline Hincks dies young, in childbirth), it's not her. And there's no C in the name (although sometimes clerks etc put it in).

But I've just found a William Hinks marrying a Julia Evett in Leicester, 1818, they have a son Richard Hinks baptised 1819 in Enderby (right place!), and a son Walter baptised 1824 in Kirby Muxloe, Leics. But no Caroline, yet...

There is a death of Julia Hinks in Derby in 1842 - which would allow William to remarry in 1846.
May we explore this possibility?

In 1841 Walter Hinks born 1824 (joiner, right occupation) is in Bakewell Derbyshire.
In 1841 Richard Hinks born 1819 (carpenter) is in Aston, Warwickshire.

Sounding good - but where are the parents, and sister Caroline, in 1841??

Can anyone find a William Hinks or Julia Hinks or Caroline Hinks in the Derbyshire area on the 1841 census?
Hinks is difficult to transcribe and I've seen Jinks, Hanks, Tunks and so on.

Thank you for your sharp eyes.

It is possible that the 1841 census did not survive, not all did, or they may have been missed by the enumerator. You may have the following but just in case.

Colin, I didn't have any of this, thank you, you're very generous. :-) I will add it all to my family details, this is definitely my family, hooray!

My hunch is that Hinks has been mis-spelled, or else - as you suggest - missed off... But there ought to be a baptism for Caroline somewhere? Unless a carpenter was working on a ship?

Yes!!!! Wow!!!! I can see it, HUCKS, I'd never have thought of that. (I've tried every conceivable alternative to Hinks, I've been going for weeks.)

This is correct, it fits, it makes sense. And Caroline's there :-)
Thank you Richard, you have made me extremely happy and unblocked the block. Bless you.
