An American Vicar in Devon 1862 ?
« on: Tuesday 07 May 19 13:17 BST (UK) »
Mary Ann Ridd and William Ridd, Sister and Brother were both married on separate days in April 1862, North Molton. She according to the Vicar was married on April 2 and he on April 17. Even the American familysearch.org uses the British style.

The marriage certs for those marriages are on FindMyPast and confirm the dates.   The vicar is listed as N? or W Burdett

What puzzled me was using the American style of writing dates on the marriage certificates.

The vicar seems to have that habit of writing the month prior to the day on the wedding certs he officiated at but I don't think he  was American https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M712-9TM

No. Just joking. Unusual that the Vicar did not follow standard practice.
