LMA Lookup Please

Hi,

If anyone is going to LMA and wouldn't mind doing a lookup for me I would be extremely grateful.

I have been looking at photocopies of original registers on Ancestry and there is a page missing.  I have had a brick wall going back 11 years and need to satisfy my curiosity about this page.

It is in the St Luke, Chelsea Marriage Registers 1859-1865.  The missing page is 60-61 and covers the dates Oct 8th 1864 to Oct 11th 1864 (entries 118-123).

I would like to know if the page is in the original book as the marriage I am looking for is not on the GRO indexes.

I am looking for the marriage of William Simmons and Elizabeth Cooley.

Would the GRO index have the names even if the page is missing from the original register?

I have got to the "grasping at straws" stage with this marriage, but I cannot give up until I have exhausted all possibilities.

Do you know when the GRO index was compiled.

Hi
Each parish church submitted marriage returns every quarter to the GRO. Copies of their marriage register. So if the page(s) existed then the names on them will have found their way into the GRO index.
So you can check the first marriages in Dec quarter 1864 at St Luke, and then find them in the GRO index, particularly the very last one before that page break on ancestry. Similarly the first marriage after. I reckon that the names on pages 330 and 331 may be from missing pages in the register (therefore they existed, I guess!)

Elizabeth Cooley Mitchell married Henry William Collins at St. Simon Zelotes, Chelsea on 30 October 1864.  Henry shown as a grocer.

Nanyjan and Kanskar, I have seen the marriage that you both mention but the certificate states her father as John Mitchell.  I know her father was definitely called James Cooley, so I have disregarded this entry.

Thankyou jonw65 for your explanation.  As I said before, I am grasping at straws with this one and any glimmer of hope needs to be followed up.  I'll file this one in the already tried file.

Where do you have the family on census after the marriage

Could we be looking for something that did not happen?   

My gt.grandparents registered the births of all ten of their children as if they were a married couple.....but they were not.
