Tasmania search
« on: Friday 10 May 19 10:51 BST (UK) »
Help wanted, I am looking for record of the names of people living in Hospital Street Beaconsfield
around 1900 to 1912.
Where would the best place to start this research, also if they moved interstate or NZ
by ship where would I look. Cheers G B

Chempat thank you, I am researching relatives who lived in Beaconsfield, from1883
I have a paper where a Grandson had started searching in 2004{ he is now deceased}
I think he would have got info from 1905 Electroral Roll that mentioned Hospital Rd

The families I am searching are Davis, some lived New Street, also Triptree dont know their
addresses. Hope this is helpful  Cheers G

Have you tried looking for articles from Trove, or are you just interested in that small time frame?

For example  in 1924 there is the funeral notice for a Richard Davis of New street Beaconsfield, so you might luck out and find some notice or news item for earlier.

You can refine the search to Tasmania, and go decade by decade on the left side menu.

Yes trove is a good suggestion from bbart.

Here is what I found by searching for "triptree beaconsfield"~10  (i.e. triptree and beaconsfield within 10 words of each other)
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01ns0/

It includes the death of Mrs Elizabeth Triptree, widow  of late Thomas Triptree at age 81 http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article25211527

She leaves 2 daughters - Mrs Yard? , Lefroy and Mrs Hobbs, Beaconsfield
http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article152029418

The sad story about Leonard Triptree who was killed at age 6 in a nasty accident. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article150320005

And lots of stories about egg competitions  :) (where Mr A Triptree was prominent)

Not sure if any of this is relevant ... but it is easy to search and browse.

bbart  Thank you so much for your answer, yes Trove does sound interesting.
The information I am seeking is connected to a Aunt, who was living in Hospital
Rd, on the 1905 Census as a domestic, her name M Davis.
I would like to be able to find whose household she was working for.
Apparently she left Tasmania 1906/7 for NZ, but cant find out going passenger
ship. Cheers

Rosball cant thank you enough for all the information you have given me,
especially snippets on Triptree etc also the links for Tasmania research.
I am looking 1900 onwards, telephone and street directory would have been
an ideal source, but looked like page wasnt there any more.
