The marriage was 5.10.1844 and Charlotte’s father is shown as William Smith deceased - occ haberdasher.  Witnesses were John B Smith & Mary B Smith

You need to give details of where Charlotte was born and her birth year from census entries.

Have you checked the 1841 census for her in case she is with parents?

Have you checked for a baptism on www.familysearch.org?

With a surname like Smith you need to give as much info as possible

Hello and a warm welcome to Rootschat.

May I suggest that you use a more specific title to any future posts. A lot of people will quickly scan down "unread posts" and only investigate those that catch their eye. For instance"

"Who were Charlotte Smith's (1844 in Shoreditch) parents ??"

I think you might whet more appetites?

Good luck with your quest. "Smiths" are such a challenge and we all have them

Thomas, Davies, Jones, Walters, Daniel in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. That should narrow it down a bit!
Vincent: Fressingfield, Suffolk, Stockton & Sunderland.
Murtha/Murtaugh: Dundalk & Sunderland
Ingram: Cairnie by Huntly, Scotland then Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.
Bardouleau: London - in memory of my stepmother Annie Rose née Bardouleau who put up with a lot from me.

I am wondering if Charlotte shaved a few years off of her age and that this was her baptism (she sometimes states her birth place as Blackfriars):

Moderator comment: edited to remove major cut & paste from subscription site - please transcribe what you see in an image.  Thanks

Charlotte Smith b   22 Jan 1812 Bennett Street Blackfriars Road, Christ Church, Surrey<<<<<<<<<< matches with Bland Smith baptisms above and same parents)
Parents: William & Ann Smith
ref RG5_051

Possible death for her:

Charlotte Simpson death registered  W. Ham aged 87 ref 4a   190    (would fit with 1812 birth)

This looks to be death of James Simpson, he died 11th April 1894:

James Simpson death registered  W. Ham    age 73 ref4a   105

Probate can be found here:

Hello All, Thank you for your replies. I have some of the information but lost lots of stuff when my laptop crashed. I will be sure to back up in future. Everything enclosed fits in with what  I think I remember. A Bland Smith emigrated to Australia or New Zealand  and I was told he had a sheep farm. when he died he left money to Simpson children my Nan got a share around 1946 / 47 but I am not sure how much is fact. Charlotte Smith /Simpson started a seed business and her son James William and her grand son James Edward Simpson were both seedsmen. Regards, Barbara
